About Me

I'm a huge proponent of encouraging people to experience as many incredible things, places and adventures as they can in their lifetime. But for many it's just not going to be a reality to do so. I have been blessed with a lifestyle that takes me to many beautiful places, and allows me to experience many adventures with my own senses. So when I pick up my camera, it is always my mission to transmit as much of my tactile experience to the viewer. When I go on trips, I want to bring the experience back, not just images of it. It is my goal that no one would ever look at one of my images and say, "I guess you had to be there." Whether shooting adventure sports and travel, beautiful landscapes or products, I always strive to bring the subject to life in a way that the viewer feels like they too experienced it.

It was a short two years ago when photography took over my life. From my early teens until age 22, music and drumming were my life; until chronic tendinitis took me out of the game. Due to my inability to even draw passable stickmen, another art form never struck me as a viable option for self expression. So I bottled it up and lashed out by getting addicted to climbing, hiking and other outdoor adventures. After 25 years of my life going completely undocumented, I picked up a camera for the first time since the blue PlaySkool camera of infancy, and I knew that everything had just changed. I was on a road trip from Connecticut to Oregon with my best friend of 20 years, and along the way I got my first taste of using pictures to tell stories and immortalize events. Since then, nearly everything I have has been dedicated to the ruthless pursuit of photographic excellence and the unleashing of stagnant creative energy.

Under the critical eye of my amazingly talented wife Genny, with the love and support from many friends and family, and with much grace and guidance from God, I have arrived at where I am now; which is here. And here, my friends, will be the staging ground for my siege of perfection. Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, "Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." That's a tall order, so I've got my work cut out for me. I don't know where things are going or what's happening next, but I know it will be an adventure. So welcome aboard, stay tuned, and enjoy the ride!
